Diese transkontinentale Versuchsanordnung bringt die Dinge, Personen und Räume nicht (wirklich) zusammen. Ein gemeinsames Auftreten, welches "das Ereignis" vor Ort bezeichnen könnte, ergibt sich nicht. Die eine Ausstellung konstituierenden Parameter kommen nicht über die Distanzen. Vielmehr verbleiben sie jeweils am eigenen/anderen Ort und korrespondieren untereinander in eigenen Zeit-, Kapital- und Bedeutungszusammenhängen und -verschiebungen.

Das hat mehrere Gründe. Zum einen verteilt sich hier wie dort das Kapital nach den Gesetzmäßigkeiten eines globalen Kunstmarktes und seiner Anbindung (embedded arts) an Wirtschaft und nationale Politik und erlaubt demnach nur adaptierte Produktionen. Zum Anderen herrschen Richtung Europa Einreisebestimmungen, die für Menschen bestimmter Kontinente (vor allem Afrika und Lateinamerika) nur mehr theoretische Anwesenheiten erlauben.

Der Künstler (Japan, US)
Der nicaraguanische Künstler Ernesto Salmerón verweilt in Japan. Nach der behördlichen Schließung seiner Ausstellung in Managua/Nicaragua (auf Grund konstatierter regierungskritischer Inhalte) und einer Verschiffung derselben zur Biennale di Venezia (fast ein ganzer Kontinent ist in einem Pavillon (Palazzo Zenobio) versammelt), sitzt er nun in Tokyo und wartet, wohin es gehen könnte. Das Mauerstück mit dem Graffiti von Augusto C. Sandino als Teil seiner Intervention harrt in Venedig seines Weitertransport. Wohin? Der IFA-Laster (aus der früheren DDR) mit dem das mural aus Nicaragua per Schiff angeliefert wurde, steht ebenfalls am selben Ort und bedarf auf Grund seiner Nichtzulassung im Sinne der europäischen Verkehrsordnung ebenfalls eines geeigneten Transportmittels.

Nachtrag vom 06.02.2008 und 24.02.2008:
Ernesto Salmerón folgt nach seinem Tokyoaufenthalt einer Einladung nach Lijiang City, Provinz Yunnan, China. Der IFA-Laster mit dem Mauerstück steht inzwischen in Costa Rica (Teoretica Art Foundation).

Der Ausstellungsraum – die Eröffnung (Nicaragua)
In Managua wird von Rhizom ein Ausstellungsraum angemietet. Dort findet, in Abwesenheit des Künstlers und auch seiner Werke, die Vernissage der Ausstellung mit Musik und Buffet (in landesüblicher Form) statt. Über dem Eingang befindet sich ein Transparent mit dem Ausstellungstitel "my space (in global slices) – Ernesto Salmerón y Rhizom – arte contemporaáeo de <graz> etc". Im Raum hängt ein Hinweisschild "Die Ausstellung ist eröffnet!".

Rhizom/"aktuelle kunst in graz" (Österreich)
In Graz werden physische und digitale Einladungen versendet. Das Sujet zeigt Ernesto Salmerón vor verschiedenen urbanen Hintergründen in Tokyo und Lijiang neben dem Plakat seiner Austellung "my space (in global slices) – Ernesto Salmerón y Rhizom – arte contemporaáeo de <graz> etc". Als Ortsbezeichnung der Ausstellung dient die Adresse des Ausstellungsraumes in Managua.

In drei Call-Centers/Internet-Cafes in Graz kann während der Galerienrundgänge und den angegebenen Öffnungszeiten vom 11. bis 13.04.2008 die für dieses Projekt ins Netz gestellte homepage besucht werden. Sie bringt virtuell das zusammen, was real, aber getrennt, andernorts existiert und passiert.

Kunst und Kapital
Der Künstler erhält ein Künstlerhonorar. Dieses versteht sich als grundsätzliche Wertschätzung seiner Arbeit, die er unabhängig von Ort, Raum, Zeit und eines konkreten Auftrages entwickelt.

This transcontinental test set-up does not (really) bring the objects, the persons and places together. A corporate appearance – which could indicate "the event" on the spot – does not arise as a result. The parameters constituting an exhibition do not get beyond the distances. They rather remain at their very places/the other places and communicate with each other within the contexts – and shifts – of time, capital and meaning.

There are several reasons for that. For one thing, both here and elsewhere the capital's distribution follows the global art markets' regularities and its connection (embedded arts) to economy and national politics and thus only permits adapted production. For another thing Europe has entry regulations permitting people who come from certain continents (mostly Africa and Latin America) only to be present in theory.

The artist(Japan, US)
Nicaraguan artist Ernesto Salmerón is still in Japan. After his exhibition in Managua/Nicaragua had been shut down by officials (due to adjudged contents critical of government) and after it had been shipped to the Venice Biennale (where almost an entire continent is represented in a pavilion at Palazzo Zenobio) he is now sitting in Tokyo, waiting for things to come. The section of wall with Augusto C. Sandino's graffiti as part of his artistic intervention is awaiting its further transport in Venice. Where to? The IFA truck (from the former GDR) that had brought the section of wall from Nicaragua is in Venice, too, and it also requires suitable means of transportation due to its non-admission to European traffic regulations.

Update February 6 and 24:
After his Tokyo-Residence Ernesto Salmerón received an invitation to China, Lijiang City, Provinz Yunnan. The IFA truck with the section of the wall has still arrived in Costa Rica (Teoretica Art Foundation) for interim storage.

Show room – opening (Nicaragua)
Rhizom hires an exhibition space in Managua, where the exhibition's preview will take place together with music and a (customary) buffet in absence of the artist and his pieces of work. Above the entrance there will be a banner with the exhibition's title "my space (in global slices) – Ernesto Salmerón – arte contemporáneo de <graz> etc.". In the show room there will be a sign telling "The exhibition is declared open!".

Rhizom/"contemporary art in graz" (Austria)
In Graz physical and digital invitations will be sent out. Their subject is Ernesto Salmerón in front of different urban backgrounds in Tokyo and standing next to the poster for his exhibition „my space (in global slices) – Ernesto Salmerón y Rhizom – arte contemporáneo de <graz> etc.". The show room's address in Managua will serve as the exhibition's location. As communicated in the folder "contemporary art in graz" the exhibition's opening will take place in Managua (April 4, 8pm local time). The project's homepage can bee visited online in three call centers in Graz (Jakoministraße und Griesplatz, Dreihackengasse) during gallery tours from April 11 – 13, 2008. It unites on a virtual level what exists and happens in reality, yet at a different place and separately.

Art and capital
The artist is paid an artist's fee. This is an expression of the fundamental appreciation of the work which he develops independent of location, space, time, and a specifically commissioned job. After the exhibitions´ opening the hired show room will be open to creative usage for the rest of the month.

Este experimento transcontinental no unirá (realmente) las cosas, las personas y los espacios. No tendrá como resultado ninguna presentación común que pudiera caracterizar a „el evento“ en el lugar mismo. Los parámetros que constituirán una exposición no llegarán a superar las distancias. Permanecerán más bien en su mismo/otro lugar manteniendo correspondencia entre sí mediante relaciones y contextos de tiempo, capital y significación propios.

Esto se debe a varias razones. Por una parte, el capital se reparte, tanto aquí como allá, según los principios de un mercado global del arte y su conexión (embedded arts) con la economía y la política nacional, de modo que permite sólo producciones adaptadas; y por otra parte, existen requisitos de entrada a territorio europeo, los que, para las personas de ciertos continentes (especialmente África y América Latina) no permiten más que la presencia teórica de éstas.

El artista (Japón, EE.UU.)
El artista nicaragüense Ernesto Salmerón se encuentra en Japón. Después del cierre de su exposición en Managua/Nicaragua, por orden de las autoridades (a raíz de la constatación de tener contenidos críticos hacia el gobierno) y el embarque de la misma a la Bienal de Venecia (donde casi un continente entero está reunido en un pabellón en el Palazzo Zenobio), se encuentra él ahora en Tokio, esperando, a donde el destino determine que vaya a ir. El pedazo mural con el grafiti de Augusto C. Sandino como parte de su intervención aguarda en Venecia, hasta que pueda continuar su viaje. ¿Hacia dónde? El camión IFA (de la antigua RDA), en el que, y con el que, sobre un buque-transporte había llegado el mural desde Nicaragua, se encuentra, de igual manera, también en el mismo sitio, requiriendo igualmente, a consecuencia de su no admisión según los principios del régimen europeo de transporte,  un medio de transporte adecuado para su traslado .

Anotaciones complementarias del 06/02 y 24/02:
Ernesto Salmerón, después de su estancia en Tokio, acepta una invitación a China, en la ciudad de Lijiang, provincia de Yunnan. El camión IFA con el mural, entretanto, ha llegado a Costa Rica (Fundación Ars Teorética).

La Sala de Exposición – La Inauguración (Nicaragua)
En Managua, se arrenda una sala de exposición por Rhizom. En ella tendrá lugar la inauguración de la exposición, con música y bufet (según las costumbres del país); en ausencia del artista, y también de sus obras. Sobre la puerta de entrada se encuentra una bandera con el título de la exposición „my space (in global slices) – Ernesto Salmerón y Rhizom – arte contemporáneo de <graz> etc.” Dentro de la sala cuelga un letrero, en el que dice „La exposición está abierta!“.

Rhizom/„aktuelle kunst in graz“ („arte actual en graz“, Austria)
Desde Graz serán enviadas invitaciones físicas y digitales. El sujeto muestra a Ernesto Salmerón delante de diferentes trasfondos urbanos, en Tokio y en San Francisco, al lado del cartel de su exposición „my space (in global slices) – Ernesto Salmerón y Rhizom – arte contemporáneo de <graz> etc.” Como determinación del lugar de la exposición sirve la dirección de la sala de exposición en Managua.
En tres Call Centers/Internet Cafés en Graz se puede visitar la página web del proyecto, durante las vueltas por las galerías y en los horarios indicados entre el 11 y el 13 de abril de 2008. Ésta reune virtualmente todo lo que sí existe y pasa realmente en otros lugares, pero de modo aislado.

Arte y Capital
El artista recibirá honorarios de artista. Ello se entiende como valoración básica hacia su trabajo, el cual desarrolla con independencia de lugar, espacio, tiempo o encargo concreto alguno.
